ABOUT EVERTON RIDGE HOMES:
Everton Ridge Homes is an award-winning custom home builder located in Vernon, BC. Dedicated to quality and service, Everton Ridge is quickly becoming the builder of choice for customers, developers, suppliers, tradesmen, and employees.  Building between 15 to 20 custom homes each year, Everton Ridge Homes is adding a new position to the corporate office to play a key role in guiding the long and short term financial decisions of the company.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Controller is a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the President, and will play a critical role in shaping the long range operational and strategic plans of the company. The Controller is responsible for the full scope of financial management and accounting operations of Everton Ridge Homes. Reviewing existing accounting and financial controls; developing and implementing new processes and systems; monitoring and reporting financial performance metrics; and managing the overall operations of the corporate office (including staff supervision). This is a full-time role based in Vernon, BC.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA / CMA with 3+ years experience
  • Experience in the construction or manufacturing industry is an asset

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory accounting and payroll
  • Develops, improves and issues monthly, quarterly and project-based financial statements
  • Establishes, monitors and enforces financial policies and procedures to inform corporate financial decisions
  • Manages major contracts with vendors and suppliers
  • Ensures Everton Ridge Homes is in full financial and operational compliance with CRA, GST, WorkSafeBC, etc. regulations
  • Manages HR, IT, and insurance functions where volume doesn’t dictate separate positions

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
Experience creating financial statements
Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end reporting
Excellent skills using accounting software (Simply Accounting, Quickbooks) and Microsoft Office products
Strong administrative skills
Supervisory experience an asset
Knowledge of construction contract terminology and legislation would be considered an asset
